“The irony is that we attempt to disown our difficult stories to appear more whole or more acceptable but our wholeness, even our wholeheartedness, actually depends on the integration of all of our experiences including the falls.”
― Brené Brown, Rising Strong
When my goal is appearing acceptable, I end up hiding. My worth becomes tied to what people see, not who I am.
But I need others to see the real me. To hear my difficult stories. Being open is where I experience empathy. It’s where I feel connection.
"The two most powerful words when we're in struggle;" Brené Brown says. "Me too."
If I want wholeness, I need to be open.
