“If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly.”
— G.K. Chesterton, What’s Wrong with the World
I was talking to a coaching client recently who is learning to play the cello.
He said he really liked it. But then said, “it’s good for me to be bad at something.”
What a cool idea!
I often try to avoid failure by not trying. I give up easy. I don't want to look bad.
But there are some things in life that need my good effort. My full attention. My persistence.
And I am most satisfied when I accomplish something difficult and worthwhile.
What good is a good result with no effort?
